Polar Nights

Every day is a balanced mix of sightseeing, fun activities and, of course, hunting Northern Lights! We'll visit must-see sights like the Storsteinen viewpoint, the stunning Arcticl Cathedral and the curious Polar Museum. Reindeers, whales, Sami dinners by a campfire and the Northern Lights will keep our hearts warm during the long Polar Night, when the sun never rises over Tromso.

Day 1

Welcome to the Arctic!

Check-in at our hotel, settle into your room and you meet your fellow arctic companions. We'll have a brief introduction to the week's schedule and some free time to start visiting Tromso's city center and its main street: Storgata. Let's start the trip with a beer together in a local pub!

Day 2

Who Turned The Lights On?

Our first day in the far north starts with a visit to the most famous viewpoint over the city, on top of the Storsteinen mountain. The sight from up there is breathtaking, overlooking the North Sea, the large city bridge and the ice mountains in the back. From there we head back down to visit the Arctic Cathedral, an architectural marvel seamlessly blending in with the environment around.

Before lunch we visit the Polar Museum, containing many curiosities on everyday life in the Arctic and all the dangerous expeditions from the 17th century up to now. After trying some local fish in one of the many restaurants by the harbor, we get ready for a night of hunting. Our bus picks us up around 6pm and a local guide will bring us to different spots in search for the main event, the Northern Lights. Will we see them already tonight? We have until midnight to find out.

Day 3

Ice Fun

Today we visit the Polaria acquarium, the northernmost acquarium in the world. Its main attraction is the five local Seals, which visitors can feed and play with. We'll also find other unique fishes only local to the northen regions and learn how climate change is heavily affecting their habitats. After lunch it's time for some sporty activities, we can try ice skating, sledging or ski touring in the large park of Charlottenlund.

Another highlight experience awaits us tonight, we'll travel to a nearby Sami camp and try sleding on Reindeers! As we get carried around by our new friends, we always keep an eye on the sky hoping to see the Aurora. We'll finish the evening with a dinner around a campfire, as local Sami people explain us their cultures and beliefs.

Day 4

Chill or Thrill?

This morning we'll decide the main activity together. We can opt for a 9 hour Catamaran tour searching for Whales as they feed in the herrings-rich fjords around Tromso, or relax in the warm thermal waters of a local spa and enjoy a beer tour at the local Mack brewery.

No matter what we decided in the morning, tonight we look for the Northern Lights again. We'll hike around the Prestvannet frozen lake and at the Telegrafbukta beach, far away from the city lights, hoping to catch one last glimpse of the Aurora.

Day 5

Goodbye, Norway!

Pack your bags and say goodbye to your new friends and the cold, arctic mountains of Tromso. Check out from the hotel and stroll through Storgata for the last time.
